Movie Stuff: It’s Alive: Victor Frankenstein

I’ve been waiting for months but today was the day the Victor Frankenstein trailer was released. You might remember me mentioning this film in my post about A. the fact that I couldn’t go to Comic-Con and see James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe talk about this film and B. my slight obsession with McAvoy. The film, starring McAvoy and D-Rad (Daniel Radcliffe) is about the mad scientist Victor Frankenstein (played by McAvoy) and his assistant Igor (played by Radcliffe).

If you think this film is going be like Young Frankenstein or the classic novel, don’t get excited because it won’t be. See the trailer for yourself.

I’m definitely getting a Robert Downey Jr. Sherlocke Holmes vibe. Which is fine; those films are fun but being a horror movie fan I was hoping for something a little more… dark. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a full blown comedy by any means but I would prefer a little less humor. The movie is about a guy who takes the body parts from different humans and animals and sews them together to create a new living creature for God’s sake! But I did enjoy the little nod to Young Frankenstein. And I’m still really excited to see it. Also, D-Rad’s hair is majestic.

By the way, that was the trailer for the U.S. Take a look at the trailer for the U.K.

What the hell?! The U.K. gets a darker look at the film with a cool cover of a Doors song and we get a trailer with McAvoy saying little quips and having a conversation with some chic at a party?  Why the big difference in the trailers? I know this is not out of the norm but I just wanted to say that us Americans don’t need our trailers watered down. We want to see McAvoy fix D-Rad’s humpback by slamming him into a wall and throwing a brace on him!

Victor Frankenstein is in theaters Thanksgiving.
